FORMER CALHOUN YOUTH STILL MISSING AFTER SUDDEN DISAPPEARANCE - "Not A Single Word Heard"

(01/02/2010)

A former Calhoun youth who moved to Roane County has been missing since May 14, 2006.

David Beach, 17, disappeared from his mother's residence on Ripley Road near Spencer with the clothes on his back, according to his mother Barbara Beach Hicks.

The story is similar to the disappearance of Christian Dawn Starcher Seabolt of Spencer, who left her mother's apartment in 2003 to get a pack of cigarettes, never to be seen again.

"I have not received a single word about his whereabouts," Hicks said, indicating she receives periodic calls from the WV State Police.

Hicks heard about the recent discovery of skeletal remains on Groundhog Ridge near Creston, and called Trooper Fisher at the WV State Police in Spencer, wondering if it might be her son.

Police have indicated it could be a number of weeks before determinations are made about the remains.

The 5' 2" youth weighing 115 pounds had previously lived in the Charleston area.

When the story first appeared on the Herald in 2006, his mother said, "It wasn't like him to not let me know where he's going."

"There is no explanation," she said, indicating he has been listed as a missing person.

Anyone with information regarding the youth, should call the WV State Police or the Roane County Sheriff's Department.
