ARLEY METHENEY IN ICU - 17-Year-Old Youth 46th Fatality

Arley Metheney, 83, of Stinston is listed in fair condition in the Trauma-Intensive Care Unit at Charleston Area Medical Center.

Metheney received multiple injuries when his four-wheeler was involved in a collision with a van at Stinson Sunday afternoon.

He was life-flighted to Charleston following the accident.

A 17-year-old male has become the 46th ATV fatality in West Virginia this year.

The teen lost control of his ATV and hit a tree in the Jefferson area of Kanawha County at about 11 p.m. Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The youth was riding alone when the accident occurred with speed being a factor, according to authorities.

The state's 46 ATV-related death has exceeded the 2005 record of 40.
