The CMS Volleyball team opened their season Thursday evening at Spencer.
The B team lost the match in two close games 25-23 and 25-21. The A team swept
Spencer 25-21 and 25-12 to claim their first match victory of the young
season.
Calhoun B was led by Katie Collins with 7 points, 1 ace. Kayla Cottrell had
5 points, 3 aces; Kenzie Laughlin 4 points, Brittiny Miller 4 points, 2 aces;
and Samantha Fulks 3 points, 1 ace. Setting: Samantha Fulks and Brook Green
were both 6/6. From the attack line: Kayla Cottrell was 3/3, Kenzie Laughlin
1/3 and MaKayla Johnson 1/3.
Ashley Houchin led Calhoun A with 12 points and 4 aces. Jordan Mace had 10
points, 3 aces; Rochelle Gerwig 5 points, 2 aces; Savannah Church 3 points, 1
ace; Amber Wilford 3 points, and Michelle Hall 2 points. Setting for A: Amber
Wilford was 12/12 and Savannah Church was 7/7. From the attack line:
Karissa Reip was 6/6 with 1 kill; Ashley Houchin was 5/6 with 2 kills; Savannah
Church was 3/3, 2 kills, Amber Wilford 3/4 2 kills, Jordan Mace 2/4 and Michelle

The teams travel to Walton on Tuesday, September 11 and host Braxton on Thursday,
September 14. Games begin at 6 p.m.
