LANE SMITH NAMED GILMER'S DEMOCRAT OF THE YEAR

By Drew Moody drew@wvmountainsun.com Gilmer County Circuit Clerk Lane Smith has been selected as the Democrat of the Year, by the Gilmer County Democratic Executive Committee. "His service has been continual," said Sandy Pettit, who along with Greg Smith are co-chairs of the organization. Lane has taken many candidates 'under his wing' and taught them how to campaign, according to Pettit. He's a familiar face at Democratic functions and works to support the party in a variety of ways.
