JUNE V. VARDA - Spencer

June Vandale Varda, 78, of Spencer died July 27, 2001, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer.

She was born June 24, 1923, in Roane County, a daughter of the founder of Vandale Funeral Home, the late Fred E. Vandale and Leila Hardman Vandale.

She was president of McIntosh Hardware, a graduate of Spencer High School with the class of 1941, a homemaker and a former Cub Scout teacher and catechism class teacher. She was formerly active in the Junior Women's Club and was an active member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Benjamin Joseph Varda; one daughter, Melinda Ashley of Horse Shoe, N.C.; two sons, Fred and John Varda, both of Spencer; and seven grandchildren, Travis, Kimberly, Andrew and Sarah Varda, all of Spencer, Nicholas and Lauren Ashley of Horse Shoe, and Carly Clark of Lantana, Fla.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Josh Varda; and two brothers, Charles ''Buck'' and George A. Vandale.

Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Father David Glockner officiating. Burial in Spencer Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer.
