John L. Walker, 78 - Akron, Ohio

John L. Walker, 78, of Akron, Ohio, died Sunday, August 20, 2006.

He was born August 23, 1927, at Walton, Roane County, a son of the late M.D. "Deck" and Hallie Ledsome Walker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Johnnie Lee Walker; and one brother, Paul Walker.

Mr. Walker was a retired park ranger, with 22 years of service, from the Metro Summit County Park System. Also, he was a member of the Church in the Valley near Akron and Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nancy Riley Walker of Akron; one son, Larry Walker of Baltimore, Maryland; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Jeannie Walker, David and Nora Walker all of Maryland; three granddaughters, Dawn, Kimberly and Darlene.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, August 26 at 1 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Michael F. "Mike" King officiating. Burial will be in the Canterbury Droddy Cemetery, Walton.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Friday.
