The first time I sat down with Dr. Peter B. Barr, new President of Glenville State College, he didn't offer his considerable resume for examination. Nor did he volunteer details about his numerous accomplishments while working in Conway and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Instead, he spoke of a passion for education and of community service. He also described Glenville State College as a "hidden jewel."

He spoke of his love for West Virginia, its tradition of embracing a hard-work ethic and the importance of values and family.

Both he and his wife were drawn to Glenville after their initial visit. "I happen to believe things happen for the right reasons," Barr said.

"I know this is the right place for us to be," Dr. Barr said of his decision to come to Glenville. Barr is a native son, originally from Huntington, who has now returned after a long absence.
