MEDICAL EXAMINER WILL IDENTIFY FIRE VICTIM

(08/19/2006)
Authorities are continuing to investigate the death of a young Roane County man who died in an early morning fire Saturday that destroyed a house belonging to Gary Crichfield of Spencer.

While the identity of the man appears to be known in the community, the State Medical Examiner's office will likely determine his identity by Monday.

He is described as being in his 20s.

Crichfield and another male occupant reportedly fled the early morning fire to call 911.

The house is located in a residential area off Parkersburg Rd. (State Rt. 14), not far from Spencer's corporate line.
