RED DEVILS WIN PADEN CITY SCRIMMAGE 7-1

(08/19/2006)
Calhoun scored early and often en route to a 7-1 (touchdown) victory over Paden City on the road Friday.

Freshman Zack Moore and junior Jeff Goodrich scored two touchdowns apiece for the Red Devils.

Moore scored on two passes from Matt Houchin -- 70 yards and 20 yards.

Goodrich, too, caught a touchdown pass from Houchin -- 18 yards. He also scored on a 70-yard run.

Houchin had one more scoring pass -- from three yards -- to Josh DeWeese.

The Red Devils' other scores came on a 15-yard run by junior fullback Caleb Hart and on a 70-yard run by backup quarterback Nick Whytsell.

Whytsell also made good on all three field goal attempts he tried.

Calhoun lost the season-opening scrimmage to Class AA Logan last Saturday by a 5-1 (touchdown) score.

Calhoun's only touchdown in that game came on a 60-yard pass interception by Eddie Burrows.

Calhoun opens the regular season Aug. 25 at Gilmer County.
