SUMMERSVILLE MAN DIES FOLLOWING ATV CRASH - Fatalities Reach 2005 Record

(08/16/2006)
A 23-year-old Summersville man has died two days after his ATV ran off the road and flipped several times before landing in a ditch.

Charleston Area Medical Center says 23-year-old Aaron C. Rader died Tuesday.

This brings the number of ATV deaths in West Virginia to 40, although some media is reporting 38.

Mark Holmes, Program Coordinator for the Governor's Highway Safety Program, advised the Herald that the actual number is 40.

Last year at the end of 2005, the state set a record with 40 deaths.

Rader and a passenger were airlifted to CAMC.

The 20-year-old passenger, Sara Dillard of Richwood, is in satisfactory condition.
