Louise K. Estep, 87, Grantsville

Louise K. Estep Louise Kerby Estep, 87, died peacefully Aug. 12, 2006.

A 75-year resident of Calhoun County, she was born Feb. 19, 1919, in Roane County, the oldest child of Dewey and Martha (Mattie) Kerby.

A 1935 graduate of Calhoun County High School, she attended Mountain State Business College and worked 12 years at Stone & Thomas in Charleston.

As a lifelong member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, she was a charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, holding both local and district offices. She was a Methodist Youth Fellowship leader and Sunday school teacher. She was active in community projects such as 4-H, Band Boosters, Hospital Auxiliary and the Mt. Zion Park Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, D. Brent Estep, and brothers, Jack, Cleo and Deo Kerby and Beryl Kerby.

Surviving are daughters, Janet L. Davis of Grantsville and Betty (David) Kirby of Charleston; grandsons, Bob (Neva) Bailey, Rodney Davis, Kris Kirby (Mary) and Greg Kirby; and great-grandsons, Will and Thomas.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville, with the Rev. Rick Swearengin officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
