New commercial tile has replaced carpet inside Calhoun Middle-High School, with the work continuing right up until the opening of school, according to principal Karen Kirby.

The state School Building Authority allocated the school $263,602 for the replacement of carpet.

The authority no longer approves carpet in newly constructed schools, mostly because of health reasons.
