FORMER POLICE CHIEF ARRAIGNED ON SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGES

(08/03/2006)
Former Grantsville Police Chief Ron Gordon, 56, was arraigned today before magistrate Teresa Robinson on three charges related to the sexual assault of three females.

Gordon was brought to Grantsville from Central Regional Jail by Sgt. Doug Starcher of the West Virginia State Police.

He was released on $30,000 bond, posting 10% cash, with a preliminary hearing scheduled before Magistrate Rick Postalwait on August 9th at 1:30 p.m. Postalwait has requested to be recused from the case.

The charges include two counts of sexual assault in the 2nd degree, and one count of attempted sexual assault in the 2nd degree.

The sexual assault charges carry jail sentences of 10-25 years, if found guilty.

Gordon's arrest followed an investigation which started in February by the WV State Police. He was arrested in Henrico County, Virginia, where he was working.
