Calhoun 4-H Members Study Citizenship in our Nation's Capitol

Each summer, the National 4-H Conference Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland becomes the home of 4-H members from across the country.

Citizenship Washington Focus is an annual event which combines workshops and activities with daily field trips to educate young people on both the importance and elements of our democratic process.

The West Virginia Delegation spent the week of July 4th in Washington D.C. and was joined by 4-H members from South Dakota, Minnesota, Kansas, Ohio, and Colorado.

Calhoun 4-H delegates visited the offices of Senators Byrd and Rockefeller and Representatives from their respective districts.

Members toured the Holocaust Museum, Native American Museum, the National Zoo, Mount Vernon, Arlington Nation Cemetery, and the Lincoln, Jefferson, World War II, Iwa Jima, Korean, and Vietnam Memorials.
