Jessie Singleton Maxwell, 95 - Formerly of Parkersburg

Jessie Singleton Maxwell, 95, formerly of Parkersburg, West Virginia died July 13, 2006, at Shenandoah Nursing Home in Fishersville, Virginia.

Mrs. Maxwell was born October 30, 1910, in Gem, Braxton County, WV, and was the daughter of French and Effie Bosley Singleton. Mrs. Maxwell moved to Parkersburg at the age of 16 and worked for American Rayon Viscose Co. for several years. She married Roy "Buck" Maxwell of Gilmer County on June 6, 1932, and moved to St. Marys Avenue where she remained until July 2002.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, in 1977; three brothers, Linn, Virgil and Edgar Singleton; and three sisters, Carrie Bragg, Mary Sponaugle and Rose Lemon.

She is survived by a son, Robert "Bob" C. Maxwell and wife, Allie Hull, of Hightown, VA; a daughter, Ella Jane Sheppard and husband, Frank, of Hacienda Heights, CA.; grandchildren, Jorena Maxwell Simpkins of Rustburg, VA, Rob Maxwell and wife, Julie King, of Fishersville, VA, Wendy Will of San Francisco, CA, and Julia Will Gawel and husband, Bob, of San Diego, CA; seven step grandchildren, including Derek Hull Flory of Staunton, VA; six great-grandchildren, Chase, Davis and Bryson Simpkins, Emma Kate Maxwell and Hayden and Finn Gawel.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 19 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with the Rev. Bob Nicholas presiding. Burial was in Job's Temple Church Cemetery, Gilmer County, WV.

A memorial may be made to Pleasant Hill Cemetery of Right Hand Fork fund, c/o Bank of Gassaway, Gassaway, WV or Hospice of the Shenandoah, PO Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939.
