ROANE WOMAN IN COURT OVER ANIMAL CRUELTY

A hearing is scheduled today for an elderly Roane County woman who has been issued animal cruelty charges. Roane County officials took over 80 dogs from the home of 71-year old Helen Franklin of Speed, in what was described as "deplorable conditions." There appears to be a question of whether or not the dogs were legally seized. Reports said a foot or more of dog feces was discovered in one room of the house.
