West Virginia State Police are searching for a Rosedale fugitive currently facing several state and federal arrest warrants.

"He's got several charges waiting for him," said Cpl. J.E. Skidmore of Glenville.

Police are asking for the publics assistance in locating Phillip Lee Sandy. His last known address is 6th Street, Rosedale.

"Somebody knows where he is," Cpl. Skidmore said.

Sandy is a convicted sexual offender and is required by law to report his address to police and notify any move within 10 days, Cpl. Skidmore said.

The WV State Police sex offender registry indicates Sandy, age 45, was convicted of the attempted rape of an adult female in Virginia in 1990. He served approximately one year in jail for the crime.

Sandy was apparently working in Gassaway, according to the registry.

Sandy weighs 180 pounds, eyes are brown, height is 6'. His hair is salt-and-pepper gray.

In addition to charges pending in Braxton County, Sandy is also being sought for failure to appear as a witness in a federal case.

Some Rosedale residents are apparently anxious for the State Police to locate Sandy, as there's been a spike in speeding tickets written in the area recently.

It's been reported one resident's frustration led him to paint a message on the highway, stating, "Speed Trap Thanks to Phillip Sandy."

Anyone with information regarding a sighting or the whereabouts of Phillip Lee Sandy are asked to call the West Virginia State Police immediately at 304-462-7101, or any local law enforcement agency. Information and tips are kept confidential.
