TWO DIE FIERY DEATHS IN BRAXTON PLANE CRASH

(06/30/2006)
Two people were killed this morning when their small plane crashed about a quarter mile from the Braxton County Airport.

The bodies of a male and a female have not yet been identified, but authorities don't believe either person was local.

Officials said they were badly burned.

The Braxton sheriff said the crash occurred sometime between 10 and 10:30 a.m.

Carl Blake of the Braxton airport authority said emergency personnel had the area of the crash roped off and were waiting on Federal Aviation Administration investigators.

"All I can tell you is there was a plane crash up here and it's laying up in the woods," Blake said.

Blake said he believed the plane had just taken off from the airport before it crashed, while other reports said the plane was about to land when it went down.
