LETHERBARK YOUTH SURVIVES ATV ACCIDENT - "Fought Hard To Survive"

A 19-year-old Calhoun resident is listed in fair condition today at Charleston Area Medical Center, following a four-wheeler accident Tuesday in Roane County.

Andrew King was injured when his ATV struck a tree near Speed on U.S. 119 between Spencer and Walton.

He received multiple injuries to his head, including broken jaws, nose and other fractures. He was reportedly not wearing a helmet.

His sister Crystal Burns, said her brother "Fought hard to survive the accident," being critically injured, "He is alive by his determination to live."

King's condition is improving, after being taken off life support.

He is the son of Denise and Mike King of the Letherbark area.

Another individual, identified as Josh Watson, was a passenger on the ATV. He was released from the hospital Thursday.
