WIRT SCHOOLS GET $23,000 INTERNET GRANT

(06/23/2006)
Students in the Wirt County Schools will soon be surfing the Web.

A $23,000 technology grant from the ERate program was announced Thursday that will pay to provide Internet access in the classroom.

Since its inception in 1998, the program has pumped more than $70 million dollars into schools and libraries across West Virginia.

US Senator Jay Rockefeller helped create the program and says it helps to level the educational playing field between rural and urban areas.
