A new building has been set in place to serve as the West Fork senior center at Minnora, according to CCCOA Director Mike Ritchie.

The structure was built by students and staff at the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center and moved to the old Minnora school site.

Ritchie said there is considerable work to be done on the inside of the building before it can be placed in operation.

The facility will serve seniors, including meals, in the greater Washington District section.

The CCCOA purchased the Minnora school property from the county, after the Minnora Center had difficulty meeting financial obligations.

The county had long-term leased the property to the Minnora group, but took it back over at their request following the problems.
