The new community center at Brooksville Baptist Church is up and roofed, according to Pastor Jerry Scott. "We are doing this for the community," he said. "We hope it will be a welcome addition." Completion of the interior will take several months.

Pastor Scott said he is hopeful the center will be placed in use this winter.

The building includes a regulation gym, rest rooms and showers, a full size kitchen and about eight classrooms. Pastor Scott said it is a multi-purpose building.

Local businessman Ray Holbert, who is on the building committee, said the large gym area could seat several hundred people for concerts, gospel sings, revivals or special events, besides sports activities which will become part of the schedule.
