TWO STARCHERS HAVE DIED - Heart Condition Takes Former Councilman

Former Spencer city councilman James E. "Sonny" Starcher, 54, has died. Well-known in the Roane County community, he served several terms on the council, losing last month's election by only one vote. Starcher lost his leg during the Vietnam War and had been suffering from a heart condition. Visitation is today at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. with funeral services scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday. Eleanor Starcher, 80, of Rittman, Ohio, formerly of Calhoun County, died July 19 after a short illness. She is survived by her husband Othel and daughter Patty. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home Funeral Home in Barberton, Ohio. Complete obituaries will follow.
