Contest Winners at Vandalia

The 30th annual Vandalia Gathering was held last weekend Cultural Center and State Capitol Complex grounds.

Winner of the lap dulcimer contest, Alan Freeman, is a former resident of Calhoun County. Mack Samples, senior old-time banjo winner, is formerly from Gilmer County. Both are well- known musicians in the area.

Winners of the old-time banjo, lap dulcimer and flat pick guitar players contests were:

Old-Time Banjo (under age 60)
1st place ($400) - Tim Bing, Huntington
2nd place ($250) - Adam Hurt, Morgantown
3rd place ($150) - David O'Dell, West Logan
