FOUNDATION AWARDS $15,034 TO CALHOUN ORGANIZATIONS

The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation (PACF) and the Regional Affiliate Foundations of Doddridge, Ritchie, Jackson, Mason Counties and the Little Kanawha Area (Wirt/Calhoun) announces its first round of grants for the 2006 calendar year.

Representatives of Calhoun groups attended an Awards Presentation Program in the City Council Chambers Wednesday at the Parkersburg City Building.

Grants awarded to Calhoun County:

- $6,000 to the Calhoun County Emergency Medical Squad for replacement of cardiac monitors

- $2,534 to Pleasant Hill Elementary School for installation of flashing lights on the speed limit sign near the school

- $5,000 to the Calhoun County Commission for improvements at the county park

- $1,500 to the Calhoun County FRN for the Energy Express program

The Foundation awarded a total of $162,761 through the Spring Community Action Grants program to various organizations within the region.
