Mid-way at 44th festival opens in Grantsville

Sheriff Ballengee and Deputy Bandy play to win valuable prizes

The 44th annual Wood Festival opened last night in Grantsville, with live entertainment on Main Street, the carnival, Lion's Club bingo and "the most vendor booths we've had in years," according to Sue Oshoway.

Thursday's Gospel Sing will at start at 4:30 p.m. and continue through 11 p.m, with performances by Jenny Boggs, Amber Ganoe and Samara Church Osborne, Cindy Sexton, Pam Davis and Dorothy McCauley, Holy Hollow revival and the David Bowen Family.

The winners of the Mister and Miss Woodchuck contest will be announced at 6 p.m.

Thursday's highlight is the ATV Mud Bog at the Industrial park, gates open at 5:30 p.m., the event starts at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday is the Grand Wood Festival Parade starting at 1 p.m. with lots of entertainment on the Main Stage in Grantsville Saturday night, climaxed by a giant Fireworks display from Pine Creek Hill at 11:30 p.m.

Pine Creek Road will be closed from 6 p.m. until midnight because of the fireworks.

Live at the County Park is the Aaron Tippin' Concert at 8 p.m. with Rhythm Station performing at 6:30 p.m. Tickets at the gate.
