"THEY'RE OFF" - The CHS Class Of 2006
The 82nd commencement at Calhoun High School was held last night at Mt. Zion, announcing the graduation of 69 seniors.While the graduation crowd was down compared to recent years, the school gym was nearly full with parents, students, school staff and graduates.
Heavy rain fell during the ceremony, but those attending were greeted by a rainbow at the conclusion of the event.
Principal Mike Offutt, who is leaving his post at the conclusion of the school year, announced about $750,000 worth of scholarships issued to members of the Class of 2006.

Adrienne Brown and Mitch Cunningham gave valedictory addresses, saluting their class and recalling school memories, as did Salutatorian Joshua Hanshaw.
Jim Sullivan presented the popular power point presentation of class memories, photographs and prom movies set to music, and the school choir performed.
Offutt issued special recognition to students who received the President's Education Awards, and then presented a special award from Gov. Joe Manchin to Larry Wease for perfect attendance during his four high school years.
