The Town
of Elizabeth is receiving $1 million to extend water service to 300 customers in the Burning Springs, Garfield Road, West Virginia 14 south, Old Route 14 and the W.Va. 53 areas of Wirt County. The $4.5 million project has been named the "Jessica Lynch Water Extension Project." Roane County received $452,000 for a waterline extension project to serve 78 customers in the Clio Road area, provided by the Walton PSD Burnsville in Braxton County has also received funding for a water project. The Wirt project is being moved forward by a $500,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission, the large Small Cities Block Grant, and $1.7 million from the Rural Utilities Service, in addition to a $832,000 loan.
