TEARE IS NEW GRANTSVILLE POLICE CHIEF

(05/13/2006)

The Town of Grantsville has a new police chief.

Harry E. Teare, a resident of Glenville, was hired yesterday by Grantsville Mayor Wilbert Kerby.

"It is good to be back in law enforcement again. I welcome the challenge and hope to get acquainted with people in the community," Teare said.

Teare said his goal is to help provide good police coverage to the town.

A second officer is expected to be hired soon, according to Mayor Kerby.

Teare, who has a 19-year career in law enforcement, is the current training manager for the WVHTC Foundation in Glenville, which provides technical training and in-service training for correctional and other law enforcement officers.

Teare, his wife and four-year-old daughter have been residents of Glenville for two years, after having served as a police officer in Grove City Pennsylvania, his native town.

Mayor Kerby said he is grateful for the coverage provided the town by the Sheriff's Department and the State Police during the period the town was without an officer.

The new chief is expected to assume his duties shortly.
