Nellie L. Kee, 89 - Spencer

Nellie L. Kee, 89, of Spencer, died Saturday, May 6, 2006, in the Jackson General Hospital, Ripley.

She was born November 9, 1916, in Roane County, a daughter of the late Grover and Minnie Phillips Gandee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harlan "Jim" Starcher in 1958, her second husband, Joe N. Kee in 1988; one daughter, Betty Maxwell; two sisters, Josie Santee and Cora Woodward.

She was a retired employee of the G.C. Murphy Co., Spencer. Also, she was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Harmony and a former member of the Rebekah's and the Harmony Farm Women's Club.

Survivors include one son, Charles E. "Pete" Starcher of Spencer; two daughters, Naomi Southall of Spencer and Joanne Bravo of Lost Creek; one step daughter, Eve Southall of Spencer; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, May 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Leon B. Strickland officiating. Burial will be in the Gandeeville Cemetery, Gandeeville.

Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service.
