Wadsworth called bells "The voice of the church."

Church bells are calls to worship. They announce the sabbath, mourn the dead, and issue a call for miles around to come and hear a message of hope.

The bell at the Brooksville Baptist Church has struck thousands of times over the past 100 years, its ring echoing up and down the Little Kanawha River.

This weekend, the newly relocated bell, rang loudly for the centennial celebration.

The bell ringers (left to right) the oldest member, Bessie Basnett,
Ruth Bartlett, holding the longest membership at 72 years,
and long-time member Francis Cain
