The local chapter of the National Honor Society met April 26th to elect new officers.

The National Honor Society is an honorary organization that accepts application for membership for students who are at least a sophomore with a cumulative and current semester GPA of 3.5 or better. Students who are eligible based on this criterion are invited to apply in the spring of each school year.

Applicants must present information about themselves that shows the qualities of a member of NHS: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. A committee of teachers and staff make a decision on membership based on those qualities.

This year, there are 14 students who are eligible and were invited to submit an application. The selection committee will be making their decision this week, and those students will be notified by early next week.

The induction ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, May 16th at 7 p.m. in the CM-HS auditorium. New and current members, their families, faculty and staff are invited to attend.
