SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD SUFFERS HEAD TRAUMA IN ATV ACCIDENT - Two Other Teens Injured At Cherry Fork

An all too familiar scene, HealthNet landing for victims of ATV
accidents, this time, last night at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center

At least three teens were injured after their ATVs collided in the Cherry Fork section near Nobe yesterday evening, one of the teens sustaining serious injuries.

HealthNet life-flighted a 17-year-old girl with head trauma to Charleston Area Medical Center after she was brought to MHHCC by Calhoun EMS.

Another female, identified as being 15 or 16-years-old, was not seriously injured. She was on the same 4-wheeler as the 17-year-old, which crashed with another ATV driven by a 13-year-old male. He was also brought to the hospital.

The condition of the 13-year-old male was not known.

Sixty-year-old Carl James Childers of Gauley Bridge died at a Charleston hospital Sunday from massive head injuries sustained in a ATV accident near his home. He was not wearing a helmet.

The 16th ATV death in the state was reported in Mason County.

Several hundreds have sought treatment in the state's emergency rooms so far this year.
