BELL RELEASED ON $25,000 BOND - Vandal In Satisfactory Condition

(05/02/2006)

Shooting reportedly occurred in a Ritchie County area
accessed by ATVs and four-wheel drives known as
Bear Run, not far from the Wirt County line and Brohard

Authorities have not released details regarding a weekend shooting that involved at least two Calhoun men who engaged in a dispute at what was described as a Saturday night party.

Charles "Bucky" Bell, 39, of Annamoriah was released on $25,000 bond yesterday from North Central Regional Jail, after being charged for attempted murder by Sgt. T. D. Corbitt of Elizabeth.

State Police say Bell allegedly shot William Vandal, Jr., 19, with a .44 magnum pistol, during a altercation which reportedly involved several individuals.

Vandal is in satisfactory condition in Charleston Area Medical Center.

Police had some difficulty deciding jurisdiction, since the incident happened in a remote area near the Ritchie-Wirt-Calhoun line.

Sources in the area say they believe the shooting took place on Bear Run, which is in a wooded area between Munday Road and McFarlan (Rt. 47), accessed by ATVs and four-wheel drives.

Calhoun Trooper 1st Class Jeff Hunt was released from Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center yesterday evening, after he suffered injuries when his cruiser wrecked en route the shooting incident.
