Brice McKown, 68 - Spencer

Brice McKown, 68, of Spencer, died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at home, after an extended illness.

He was born March 1, 1938, at Beech, Calhoun County, a son of the late Lee and Vada Hall McKown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gene McKown.

Brice was a retired inspector for the WVDOH. He was a former employee of Monarch Rubber Co. and former co-owner of Pat's Eldercare both of Spencer. Also, he had represented Combined Insurance and was a foster parent.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Squires McKown of Spencer; one daughter, Tracy McKown Sheets of Spencer; one son, Chad Coon of Spencer; three grandsons, Phillip Sheets, Jordan and Haden Coon all of Spencer; three brothers, Bill McKown of Peniel, Junior McKown of Arnoldsburg and Glenn McKown of Harmony; five sisters, Barbie Miller of North Carolina, Phyllis Spurlock of Harmony, Iva Hoskins of Arnoldsburg, Bonnie Hockman and Sue Romine both of Spencer.

The funeral service will be conducted Monday, May 1 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Loren C. Price officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
