Two women were injured shortly before 1 p.m. today after their four-wheeler was struck by a car along Nobe Road in front of Chapel Baptist Church.

MHHCC ambulance transported Brenda Ross, 32, of Nobe and Beth Harmon, 22, of Parkersburg to Camden Clark Hospital, suffering from injuries.

Sources at the scene said the four-wheeler was stopped along the right side of the road, with two wheels on the pavement, when a car struck their ATV from behind.

The impact shoved the ATV down the highway, tossing the women through the air. Both women landed in a grassy area on the road bank.

The vehicle, described as a red car, fled the scene toward Gilmer County.

Calhoun EMS was responding to a motorcycle accident on Sand Ridge Hill at the same time.
