GRANTSVILLE'S LONGTIME CLERK RETIRING - Removal Bids On Town Hall Pending

(04/29/2006)
Longtime Town of Grantsville clerk Bonnie Bird is retiring July 1. Mayor Wilbert Kerby said the town has received 13 applicants for the position, which is now called payroll clerk.

"We will begin interviews next week," said the mayor, who expressed appreciation for Bird's service to the town.

Council meeting is scheduled for Monday evening at 7 p.m. Kerby said "We have a really full agenda."

Council will be opening bids Monday for asbestos abatement in the old town hall complex.

"Removing the asbestos is a necessary step before the old building can be demolished," said the mayor.

Bids have already been received regarding removing the old structure and landscaping the lot.

Kerby said Creston Oil Company submitted the low bid, requiring no cash payment. "They will remove the building for the materials," Kerby said.
