Evelyn Willajean "Jean" Wyant Bennett, 81, of Grantsville

Evelyn Willajean "Jean" Wyant Bennett, 81, of Grantsville, W.Va., departed this life on April 15, 2006, at the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg following an extended illness.

Born May 23, 1924, on Horse Run Road in Lewis County, Mrs. Bennett was the daughter of the late Roy and Plessie Wyant. On Feb. 23, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ray Bennett who survives at their Calhoun County home.

Evelyn was a 1942 graduate of Weston High School, a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church of Grantsville and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are one son and one daughter, Dennis Bennett and wife, Susan, of Craigsville, W.Va., and Rebecca Wilson and husband, John, of Knoxville, Md.; one grandson and one granddaughter, Derek Bennett and wife, Gina, of Chesapeake, Va., and Kami Bennett of Norfolk, Va.; and three great-grandsons, Matt, Caleb and Seth Bennett, all of Chesapeake, Va.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Burl, Homer, Truman, Earl and Roy Wyant Jr.; and one sister, Mary Margaret Wyant.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., Glenville, W.Va., with the Rev. Doug Eades officiating. Burial will follow in the Broad Run Cemetery in Jane Lew, W.Va. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
