300 signed up for the Creston spring poker run and the folks in the kitchen ran out of most kinds of food. Dennis Deem won first and took home $900; Randy Church came in second while the comely Pat Anderson placed 3rd. That lucky Delmas Kellar won the 50/50. The community would like to thank all those who worked, provided the laminated signs, first aid kit, maps, cards and prepared and served the food. Black's Motor Sports, Lemon & Barretts, Big Four in Marietta, Parkersburg Honda, M & J Sales, Ted Grim and G. McKown provided door prizes.

There was lots of food & fellowship at the Burning Springs Easter Sunrise service. Rev. Juanita Lockhart brought a message, then she & Steve & the Marks family provided music. Local residents spent some time (which could have been better spent doing something constructive) on income tax work. At least the folks down at the Mouth of the Elk and on the Potomac should not do without for a while. Years ago they must have passed laws saying they must not have to live on sowbelly, beans, cornbread, carp etc. but must be fed the best steak, trout, abalone, peacock's tongue, etc.

The price of local Penn grade crude rose on Good Friday to $65.50/bbl. Some wonder if the big international traders are not manipulating the price for political gain. Someone noted that fugitive financier Mark Rich is one of the biggest bulk commodity traders on earth and he was the recipient of a very controversial pardon. He is no doubt a friend of George Soros who has poured billions in the political campaigns to elect candidates of his choosing, thanks to the McCain campaign finance law.
