(04/10/2006)

Sharp turn proves hazardous to motorcyclist on Sand Ridge Hill

Emergency workers administer care to injured man ...

... who was taken to Roane General by Calhoun EMS

An out-of-state motorcyclist was injured on US 33-119 on Sand Ridge Hill Sunday evening. He was taken to Roane General Hospital by Calhoun EMS shortly after the 6:15 p.m. accident.

He was traveling with several other bikers taking a tour of the region.

Sources at the scene indicated the man was not critically injured.

The cyclist lost control in a sharp turn a short distance down from the top of the hill on the Gilmer County side.

Arnoldsburg Fire Chief Bill Jones said there has been at least one fatality in the series of sharp turns near the top of the hill, among several other motorcycle accidents.
