Hay field floods on Nicut

Governor Bob Wise has declared eight counties in central and southern West Virginia disaster areas, resulting from a severe thunderstorm with heavy rains which swept through the area early Sunday morning. At least one person is known dead in southern West Virginia, as Beckley reported up to seven inches of rain.

In the immediate region, two to three inches of rain has been recorded with local flooding reported. (SEE Hur Herald story)

The NWS forecast says there might be a thunderstorm during the early morning hours Monday, but sunny skies are predicted for most of the day.
