MAJOR FIRE STRIKES SUTTON THIS MORNING

(03/20/2006)
A second major fire has struck a regional town, following a fire in Salem.

An early morning fire has destroyed three buildings in downtown Sutton and schools are closed in Braxton County because of the disruption of bus routes.

The Sutton Democrat newspaper was burned, along with a building or home owned by the Braxton County prosecutor.

At least five fire departments were on the scene this morning, working to contain the blaze in the center of town.

Fire crews were forced to begin drafting water from the Elk River after it became apparent that the firefighting efforts might drain the town's water supply.
