Bertha Mae Maze, 87 - Brohard

Mae Maze, 87, of Brohard, West Virginia, died March 12, 2006, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born June 10, 1918, in Wirt County, a daughter of the late Henry and Emily (Westfall) Veon. She was a member of the Hartley Church of Christ at Brohard. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting, which she enjoyed sharing with her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Virgil R. Maze; a daughter, Betty Lou Dye of Vienna; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Wilma Maze of Palestine, WV; four grandchildren, Terri (Mark) Butterfield of Vienna, Carla (Keith) Rippeto of Parkersburg, Leslie (Lew) Maze Peck of Elizabeth and Joe (Kristi) Maze of Vienna; four great-grandchildren, Allen Butterfield of Vienna, Dylon and Nate Rippeto of Parkersburg and Tyson Maze of Vienna; two sisters, Mary (Sam) Winland of Parkersburg and Hazel Snider of Freed, WV; one brother, Arnold Veon of Torch, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Beanie Veon of Williamstown and Joan Veon of Geneva, Ohio; a brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Louise Snider of Parkersburg; and a sister-in-law, Marylin Maze of Lenoir, N.C.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Darrin Maze; one sister, Ruth Freed and her husband, Tony; three brothers, James, Paul and Donald Veon; a brother-in-law, Jim Maze; and a sister-in-law, Irene Veon.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville with Minister Tom Butterfield officiating. Interment will be in the Hartley Cemetery at Brohard.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
