James Jefferson Starcher, 97 - Marion, Ohio

James Jefferson Starcher, age 97, of Marion, Ohio, passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at 5:45 p.m. at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Feb. 25, 1908, in Calhoun County, W.Va., to Phillip and Virginia (Vonevender) Starcher. They are deceased.

James was retired from Commercial Steel in Marion as a cutter.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia (Jayjohn) Starcher; daughter, Ann Hudkins, Marion; son, Ray Starcher, Marion; daughter, Linda (Jerry) Bisel, Galion; son, Curtis (Barb) Starcher, Westerville; daughter, Jessie (Earnest) Shoffner, Marion; stepson, David (Jeanene) Fisher, Virginia Beach, Va.; stepdaughter, Caletta (Mike) Culp Phoenix, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Also, three children survive by a previous marriage and two stepdaughters from a previous marriage.

Four children are deceased, plus one child from a previous marriage. James also is preceded in death by two previous wives, Mellie Starcher and Dorothy Starcher.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at Marion Enterprise Baptist Church, 130 Orton St., from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 22, 2006, at Marion Enterprise Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul McKenzie officiating. Burial will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery.
