CALHOUN WINS THIRD IN ROANE MAT PLAY - Six Year Winning Streak Broken

Class AA/A No. 2 Point Pleasant wrestlers came to the top today in Spencer on the second day of the Region IV tournament. They qualified 11 wrestlers to go to the state tournament with 222 points.

Calhoun County, which previously claimed six consecutive regional crowns, broke the streak, barely holding off Herbert Hoover for third, 175.5 to 172.

CCHS has one champion in 189-pounder Paul Goodrich, but will also will send 11 to Huntington.

The Red Devils will send Sean Gungle (3rd at 103), Seth Jarvis (4th at 112), Tyler Bain (3rd at 119), Eddie Burrows (2nd at 125), Jaron Sampson (4th at 130), Justin Ramsey (2nd at 135), Jeff Goodrich (4th at 140), Caleb Hart (2nd at 145), Zac Yeager (3rd at 215) and fourth-place heavyweight Justin Whipkey.
