SIMONTON WINDOWS SOLD FOR $630 MILLION

Simonton Widows and other assets owned by SBR Incorporated has been sold for $630 million.

Simontown is the biggest seller of vinyl hurricane-resistant windows, and is known locally as a Ritchie Co. employer and supplier of doors and windows.

Fortune Brands says its acquisition of SBR Incorporated would allow the company to capitalize on the high-margin market for vinyl-framed windows and beef up its home and hardware business.

Fortune Brands makes Jim Beam bourbon, Moen faucets, Master Lock padlocks and Titleist golf gear.
