The Calhoun County Community Educational Outreach Service (CEOS, formerly Extension Homemakers) along with WVU Extension Service will be conducting a six week "Character Counts" program during the after school "Heads Up" program at Pleasant Hill Elementary School.

Character Counts deals with six important character traits: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. We will define each pillar of character by using role-play, skits, story time, crafts and other activities to impress upon the children how important it is to have good character traits.

The topic for February 6th was responsibility. Sandy McCumbers and Pat Radabaugh, Pleasant Hill CEOS taught the class. During the class, the instructors had as much fun as the children. The highlight of the class was a relay game. Each child received a prize to take home along with a handout on responsibility to color. The next class will be on February 13th and the topic will be fairness.
