BURROWS' TRAGIC VICTIMS AT PLEASANT HILL ACCIDENT

(02/07/2006)
9 A.M. - A well-known Grantsville area couple died Monday night following a car accident on Pleasant Hill.

Coleman and Katheryn Burrows were dead at the scene, after their vehicle rolled-over on Rt. 16, a short distance north of the Pleasant Hill UM Church.

Katheryn Burrows, 71, who was wearing a seatbelt, had to be extracted from the car by members of the Grantsville VFD and Calhoun EMS. She was driving the vehicle.

Coleman Burrows, 72, was reported to be out of the vehicle by a passerby, but then collapsed and quit breathing shortly thereafter.

Firemen and EMS personnel continued to perform CPR on both victims, en-route to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center.

The accident was the second with fatalities within the county during the past ten days.

Mrs. Burrows was the Calhoun Belle in 2004, was recognized as Calhoun's oldest cancer survivor by Relay for Life and was more recently honored for her long-time service to the Pleasant Hill CEOs.

She and Colemen were members of the Pleasant Hill UM Church.

Mr. Burrows had served on the board of directors of Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center for eight years, currently their vice-president, and was a volunteer for the veteran's van, transporting Calhoun vets to Clarksburg VA and other facilities.

They retired back to their home county in 1988.
