FORMER GILMER PRINCIPALS LICENSE REVOKED OVER PORN

A former Gilmer County elementary school principals teaching certificate has been permanently revoked after down-loaded pornography was discovered on his school-issued computers, according to WDTV-5.

John G. Wolfe, II had worked as an educator in the Gilmer County school system since 1978, more recently as the principal of Sand Fork Elementary.

Gilmer County Superintendent Edward Toman suspended Wolfe from his duties on February 1, 2005. Wolfe then resigned his post two weeks later.

An investigation into the matter had been going on for a considerable time.

The suspension came after a technician with Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) VII conducted a hard drive scan of Wolfe's two school-issued computers and a personal lap top computer used for school activity.

The scan reportedly revealed thousands of pornographic images downloaded during school hours.

The sexually explicit pictures depicted young individuals in the nude and some photos allegedly showed Wolfe in various states of undress, some of which were taken in his school office.

Wolfe reportedly admitted to the allegations at a hearing of the West Virginia Commission for Professional Teaching Standards Professional Practice Panel, held on December 5, 2005.

A final decision was approved and finalized by State Superintendent Dr. Steven L. Paine on Monday, January 30, 2006 to take Wolfe's teaching certificate.

Gilmer County school superintendent Ed Toman said the official order issued by the State Department of Education presents the facts about the situation.
