Pleasant Hill's Summer Academy, funded through WV Math and 21st Century Lights On Grant began on June 25th. There are approximately 45 students enrolled in the program.

Bridges is offered both in the morning and afternoon sessions. Bridges focuses on something more basic than content, it focuses on how students think and learn. Thinking and reasoning are the foundation for all education. If students don't know how to process information, it doesn't matter what you teach them or how you team them.

Students are completing mind-building exercises. Bridges helps students develop their critical thinking abilities

Repetitions of these fixed mental exercises literally "bulk up" each intellectual skill needed for learning

Students are working in the computer lab. They will be working on math and reading skills during the six week Summer Academy along with surfing the Internet

Students will also be working on their writing skills as shown above

The students will be taking a field trip to COSI (Center of Science and Industry) in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, July 20th. The trip is funded through the 21st Century Lights On Project.
